The education charity WORLDwrite is hosting a filmed picnic at its centre in London E5 at 3pm on Sunday August 7th and is inviting young people to take part. Sovereignty has always been a contested concept. In the post-war era, young people were happier saying they were citizens of the world than a particular nation-state. So has Ukraine’s struggle for self-determination put national sovereignty back on the map? And after lockdown what of individual sovereignty? The issue raises many questions. To unravel its history, meaning and today’s debates, WORLDwrite is hosting this picnic with guest experts and would be delighted if you can attend what promises to be a lively filmed discussion. The picnic and drinks will be provided. Email Kate at world.write@btconnect.com to confirm a place.
