Where did you get your dog/puppy?

Where did you get your dog/puppy? Do you prefer to buy from a breeder or go to the shelter? I got my first dog from a breeder because we needed a pure bred that would molt and not shed (mini schnauzer) but my daughter got her dog from a rescue and she's an awesome bulldog.

I went to a breeder. Would love a rescue but have a young daughter so didn't want to take the risk. She is adorable
